Cold Resolute

            Frigid winds lick old steel. Paint chipped, fluttering crimson flakes on blemished snow. Age burdened features and gentle eyes glimpse blue beyond dancing crystals.

            High upon a hill, once meant to build a home, never finished. For wood and lights do not a home make without the comforting warmth of his once beloved. A turned key makes no noise.

            Howling zephyr chills bones, ice greeting follicles of white, welcoming them to their kingdom as kin. Scattered metal flakes follow an open door and boots thudding softly. Gazing upon the view she loved.

            “I’ve kept you waiting.” No more.
